STARNO.net collaborated on a humorous 30-second television spot for Promutuel Insurance. The commercial features a high-anxiety scenario where passengers on a climbing rollercoaster are forced to listen to a maintenance worker casually discussing his car troubles instead of focusing on the ride's safety.
The primary technical challenge for this project was Seasonal Conversion. The live-action footage was originally filmed during late autumn, resulting in sparse, brown foliage that didn't match the warm, vibrant "summer" look required for the campaign. STARNO.net's mandate was to digitally "re-green" the entire landscape. We meticulously added lush green leaves to the barren trees and refined the ground textures to evoke a perfect summer day.
In addition to the vegetation work, our team performed a Sky Replacement to provide a bright, inviting atmosphere. We also created Digital Set Extensions for the rollercoaster itself; the physical tracks were extended in 3D to give the ride a more massive and intimidating scale, enhancing the comedic contrast between the terrifying height and the repairman's mundane conversation.
The Promutuel Insurance campaign uses relatable humor to highlight the importance of being well-insured in unpredictable situations. By placing a technical repairman in a position of power over terrified customers, the ad created a memorable "water-cooler" moment for Quebec viewers.
