STARNO.net participated in the production of a 30-second television commercial for METRO supermarkets, specifically aired during the BYE BYE 2025. In Quebec’s cultural landscape, the "Bye Bye" is a massive television event—a satirical year-end retrospective that attracts millions of viewers, making it the most prestigious advertising showcase of the year.
The primary mandate focused on the opening shot of the commercial, featuring the storefront of a METRO grocery store. To align with the festive and seasonal theme, STARNO.net performed extensive Digital Environment Enhancement. This included the addition of photorealistic snow layers across the scene, integrating festive Christmas decorations, and executing a precise modification of the corporate logo to match the campaign's creative direction.
Working under the high-pressure deadlines of a year-end broadcast, Frédéric St-Arnaud utilized advanced Digital Matte Painting techniques to transform a standard architectural plate into a warm, inviting, and snow-covered holiday environment. Every detail, from the frost on the windows to the subtle holiday lighting, was crafted to ensure seamless integration with the live-action footage.
The Bye Bye represents a unique opportunity for brands like METRO to connect with the Quebec public through humor and shared cultural moments. Because the audience is highly attentive to this specific broadcast, the visual quality must be flawless to maintain the "cinematic" feel of the sketch-comedy show.
At STARNO.net, we specialize in Invisible VFX. The goal for this METRO spot was to make the digital additions—the snow, the lights, and the branding changes—look entirely organic. This project demonstrates our ability to support major advertising agencies and production houses like Cinelande by delivering high-fidelity digital environments that anchor the storytelling in a believable reality.
