STARNO.net collaborated with Publicis Montréal on a series of humorous television commercials for the Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Quebec Dealer Association. This campaign stars the beloved Quebec actor Antoine Bertrand, whose charismatic and comedic personality was used to showcase the rugged versatility of Jeep’s latest vehicle lineup.
One of the most memorable spots features Bertrand attempting outdoor rock climbing for the very first time. To capture the grand scale of the mountain scenery while maintaining full control over the actor's performance and safety, the production was shot almost entirely on a green screen stage. Our team was tasked with the comprehensive digital creation of the outdoor environments, transforming a sterile studio setting into a breathtaking, photorealistic mountain face.
The core challenge involved seamless Chroma Keying and the integration of detailed rock textures, atmospheric depth, and lighting that perfectly matched the studio shots. We utilized advanced Matte Painting and 3D environment techniques to ensure that the fictional heights felt vertiginous and real, supporting the comedic timing of Bertrand's "first ascent."
As the official spokesperson for the Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram dealers in Quebec, Antoine Bertrand has appeared in various imaginative scenarios—from being an astronaut in a Ram truck to recreating iconic movie scenes. This "Outdoor Climbing" spot highlights the "Jeep Life" spirit, emphasizing that while adventure is for everyone, a Jeep makes getting there much easier.
The project highlights STARNO’s expertise in invisible effects. By creating believable natural landscapes from scratch, we allowed the creative team to focus on the humor and the brand's message without the logistical constraints of an actual mountain shoot. The result is a high-energy, visually polished campaign that resonated strongly with the Quebec audience.
