STARNO played a key role during the pre-production phase of the Hulu original series FUTURE MAN, starring Josh Hutcherson. As part of the creative engine behind the show's unique sci-fi aesthetic, we provided extensive Concept Art and Previsualization services to define the visual tone of this humorous yet action-packed series.
Working in close collaboration with the Production Designer and the Art Director, we designed and developed multiple key environments. Our primary mission was to bridge the gap between the script's imaginative sci-fi locations and the practical requirements of the set construction teams. By creating detailed digital environments and lighting keys, we helped the crew visualize the final look of the world before the physical sets were built for filming.
From dystopian landscapes to high-tech laboratory interiors, our work ensured a cohesive visual narrative across the series' shifting timelines. These visualizations served as blueprints for the art department, facilitating a smoother transition from digital concept to tangible set design on the soundstage.
FUTURE MAN follows Josh Futturman (Josh Hutcherson), a world-ranked gamer who still lives with his parents and works a dead-end job as a janitor. His life changes forever when he beats an "unbeatable" video game, only to be visited by soldiers from the future who claim the game was a training manual sent back in time to find a savior.
Recruited into a real-life mission to prevent the extinction of humanity, Josh travels through time with Tiger (Eliza Coupe) and Wolf (Derek Wilson) to stop a super-race from taking over the planet. Produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the series is a fast-paced, irreverent homage to classic sci-fi cinema.
