In 2019, STARNO.net was brought on board to support the post-production team at Cinelande for a major national advertising campaign for Fido Mobile. Fido is one of Canada's most recognizable telecommunications brands, famously represented by its beloved white and brown Jack Russell Terrier mascot.
Working with live animal actors presents unique challenges in high-end commercial production. Our studio provided specialized VFX Compositing services to refine the presence of the mascot across multiple spots. Our technical mission involved precise integration, plate cleanup, and digital "cosmetic" corrections to ensure the dog’s performance appeared seamless within the various urban and domestic environments of the campaign.
The core of our contribution focused on invisible effects: correcting fur textures under different lighting conditions, removing handlers or safety equipment from complex shots, and ensuring the mascot’s interactions with the human actors felt natural and engaging. By assisting Cinelande's post-production pipeline, we helped maintain the high visual standard expected for such an iconic Canadian brand.
These commercial spots highlight our contribution to the Fido campaign, where we focused on high-precision compositing and plate cleanup. Our work ensured that the brand's iconic mascot was perfectly integrated into every scene, removing technical distractions and refining the interaction between the animal actor and the environment.
