STARNO.net was commissioned to create high-end visual environments for a high-profile DuProprio television commercial aired during the Bye Bye 2017. For those outside of Quebec, the "Bye Bye" is a cultural phenomenon—the most-watched television event of the year, providing an unparalleled stage for brands to showcase creative excellence.
Our mandate was to generate immersive virtual sets for three distinct time periods in Quebec's history. These digital environments served as the backdrop for actors and extras, illustrating the evolution of home selling over the decades. As DuProprio is a disruptive leader in the real estate market—allowing homeowners to sell without a traditional agent—the campaign visually reinforced their long-standing commitment to empowering sellers.
Our team focused on Period-Accurate Matte Painting, meticulously researching architectural styles, street textures, and lighting atmospheres from different eras. These digital sets had to be photorealistic and seamlessly integrated with the live-action performances to maintain the high production standards expected of a prime-time New Year's Eve broadcast.
The DuProprio campaign successfully utilized humor and nostalgia to speak to millions of viewers. By showcasing that the desire to "save the commission" is timeless, the commercial solidified DuProprio's status as a modern solution for Quebecers.
At STARNO.net, we specialize in World Building for advertising. Whether it’s a futuristic city or a 1950s Montreal suburb, our goal is to provide a sense of scale and realism that allows the story to transcend the studio walls. This project highlights our expertise in combining historical research with cutting-edge digital artistry.
